DJ Master T—hails from Newark, New Jersey, and has been a dynamic presence in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan music scene for nearly three decades.
 

Following a distinguished career in the United States Air Force, he retired and chose the D.C. area as his permanent home, carrying with him a lifelong passion for music that first took root in the 1980’s.
 

Influenced by legendary New York City deejays such as Tony Humphrey, Merlin Bobb, Larry Levan, and Steve “Silk” Hurley, he devoted countless hours to perfecting the craft of mixing and scratching. What began as a deep appreciation for music evolved into a celebrated career, marked by artistry, dedication, and an enduring commitment to sound that moves people.
 

From Neighborhood Parties to Professional Gigs

DJ Master T’s love for music ignited at just thirteen, when he began entertaining family and friends with his infectious energy and undeniable talent. By 1981, he was spinning professionally at Ronnie’s in Newark, New Jersey, where his “oldies-but-goodies” sets quickly made him a weekend favorite. Even during his 22-year career in the United States Air Force, his passion never slowed—he electrified military clubs, weddings, cabarets, and private parties across bases like Quantico, Fort Belvoir, Andrews, and Bolling.
 

In 1986, DJ Master T took center stage at Utopia Nightclub in Landover, Maryland—one of the largest and most iconic venues in the D.C. metro area. For eight unforgettable years, he held down a residency that solidified his reputation as a master of the turntables, a crowd mover, and a true force in the region’s nightlife.
 

A Fixture in the D.C. Nightlife

DJ Master T’s rhythmic artistry quickly became a defining element of the metro D.C. nightlife, making him a sought-after presence at premier venues including Utopia, Zanzibar, Tradewinds, Fox Trap, PJ’s, the Classic’s, and Silver Shadows Nightclub. His growing reputation earned him the distinguished honor of being named the “DJ of Choice” for the Gentleman of Metro cabarets from 1994 to 2020 —a title he proudly continues to hold today. That same year, he stepped into the role of Head DJ and Sound/Light Technician at Baystreet Nightclub, where he thrived for an extraordinary 25 years, shaping the club’s atmosphere and sound until 2020.
 

Beyond the nightclub scene, DJ Master T’s engagements have been both extensive and impressive. His talents have taken him from week-long Carnival cruises hosted by the KIQ Social Club to energizing events for respected organizations such as the D.C. Chapter of Blacks in Government, as well as major financial institutions and universities. Each performance reflects his enduring commitment to creating unforgettable experiences and solidifying his legacy as a cornerstone of the region’s music culture.
